One Step at a Time

Support in taking the first step ..... and moving forward

Is your son or daughter struggling to attend school?

Are they withdrawing from friends and family?

Are you struggling with how to help your son or daughter?

Are you a young person in need of someone to talk to?

At Climbing Ladders we offer support for all this and more. Why not take the first step and make an enquiry about how we can help you to keep moving forward.

Taking one step at a time

Liza has had extensive experience in supporting young people and their families, particularly in a school setting. Liza valued her time working in a school catering specifically for students with emotional and behavioural challenges and holds a strong belief in there always being hope and possibilities ..... if you take one step at a time.

Why Climbing Ladders?

During one particular counselling session with a young primary school student, we ended up discussing the game of snakes and ladders and how we hated the snake just before 100 but loved the ladder at number 24 that takes you all the way into the 80's .... this metaphor resonated with both of us. The hope that springs when you climb the ladder ...... but that even when you ride down the snake there is always another ladder just around the corner.

Our logo truly represents what Liza believes in - particularly the need to make sure the first step is within reach and that small steps, one step at a time is always a doable goal to have.

Liza ....

Liza has worked in education her whole career  both as a teacher and now as a Registered Psychologist. Liza was on a team that started a special school for students who were not fitting into their mainstream school ..... for so many different reasons. It was these students that inspired her to study psychology.

Liza also works with parents and teachers and loves being able to work together to develop strategies to help the young people in their care. She is passionate about the Restorative Practice approach and believes strongly in Dr Ross Greene's Collaborative and Proactive Solutions approach and his philosophy about working with children.

Liza loves travelling and exploring new areas, trawling the internet for new ideas .... and helping people.
